Finally after two years I was able to hand David a copy of our book about his last UK Talk. <\/h5>\n\n\n\n
He asked me to sign it. I liked that<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\n

W<\/strong>hen I take a photograph that really interests me I often write a little haiku. I write them in three lines of 5\/7\/5 syllables. T<\/strong>hey do not have to rhyme, they do not have to describe the photograph, they are simply what the image led me to write. I<\/strong> only allow myself 60 seconds to write it. It is about being in the moment of seeing the photograph, just as my photographs are made in the moment of seeing<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the haiku I wrote in 60 seconds about the photograph I took in the moment of seeing David look through the photobook we made of his last UK Talk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Hurn has produced some incredible photography over many years and is a member of Magnum Photos. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

I first met David a few years ago when he was one of the Magnum photographers that Multistory and Magnum commissioned to create work around the strength of western economies within the worldwide market. David stood out for me, because whilst others were engaged in talking David also wanted to look at the work of the other photographers. I have met David a few more times since then, including when he gave his last UK lecture at Cardiff in 2020, an event organised by my good friend Rhys Jones who sadly died later in the same year. My wife Shona and I created a photobook about the talk, and it was a lovely moment when at BOP22 I handed David a copy of the book. As I handed him the book, he beamed a great smile back at me and asked if I had signed the book. To sign a book for David Hurn was a great honour for me, and I was happy to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
